SNAPGEAR IXP425 FLASH --------------------- 1. LOADING BOOT LOADER Using OCdemon package, setup with appropriate .gdbinit script. Firstly make sure you have the lp drivers loaded, and then load the ocdemon driver: insmod parport insmod parport_pc insmod lp insmod -f ocdemonpp (Ignore the ocdemonpp load warnings). Now startup the process demon, and start gdb: OcdLibRemote -c XSCALE-IXP & /tmp/xscale-elf-gdb --nw Now run the "program-loader" script to program the flash with the RedBoot firmware. 2. REDBOOT PARTITION To create a SnapGear RedBoot flash partition setup do: fis init fis create -b 0x50040000 -l 0x040000 -f 0x50040000 config fis create -b 0x00700000 -l 0x100000 -e 0x00700000 -f 0x50080000 zImage fis create -b 0x00800000 -l 0xe40000 -f 0x50180000 ramdisk fis create -b 0x00700000 -l 0xf40000 -e 0x00700000 -f 0x50080000 image Order is important, you must do the creates in the above order. Now create a boot script, and default network setup for RedBoot: fconfig You want to enter this as the start script: fis load zImage go Choose a boot timeout of 3 seconds. You can select either DHCP to get an initial address or hard code an IP address, your choice. Save this setup into flash when done (it will prompt you to save it). Reboot (with "reset" command) after flash configuration. Then CTRL-C back into RedBoot at the prompt. Now load a image into RAM and run: load -r -v -b 0x00700000 image.bin exec -r 0x800000 -s 0xe40000 -c "console=ttyS0,115200 root=/dev/ram0 mem=32M@0x00000000" 0x700000 You can now do a standard netflash to load a real image: netflash image.bin Alternatively, you can program the image in RedBoot: load -r -v -b 0x00700000 image.bin fis write -f 0x50080000 -b 0x00700000 -l 0x00f40000
