Synopsis:
   $numonchannel(<channel>|*)

Technical:
   This function is used to get the number of users on the specified
   channel.  The client must currently be on the channel for it to work.

Practical:
   This function is mostly useful for statistical analysis.  One possible
   might be to trigger a mode change (+i, +l, +m) for the channel when the
   user count reaches a certain level.

Returns:
   number of users on given channel, or nothing if error
